It is a haven for artists and writers with unlimited opportunities for painting and photographing our rugged coastline, sandy beaches, windmill, nine working farms and lots of Mother Nature in the protected open spaces we enjoy. The island is accessible by two beautiful bridges that provide easy access to the mainland and the sailing capital of the world - Newport. We also have the third oldest lighthouse in the US located at the South end of the island in Beavertail State Park. It is a laid back, friendly place with great restaurants, shops and beaches. The city of Providence is a 35 minute drive away; New York City is a 2 hour train ride; and Boston 2 hours by auto.
